We will be taking a vacation!

Just a heads up that The Bowtique will be closed from June 6th until June 27th (give or take a couple days).
We are once again relocating! The good news is that this will be the last relocation (possibly ever).

I will be available via email, so please give me a quick shout if you need anything, and I will do my best to accomodate (as long as I can find my supplies).
We all know that feeling when you need an unexpected gift or favorite bow is lost.

Happy End of School!!

The Good, the Bad and the Savings.

The Good.
April Showers bring May flowers?
Well, at least they do in the Bowtique world.
Come and see the new Kanzashi style flowers that are slowly being added to the website...yes, I learned a new trick!
I absolutely adore these new folded flowers, so be sure that there will be more added once I get my hand son some new fabrics!

The Bad.
We are clearing out older styles to lighten the load for our move.
We will once again be closing up the website for a week or two at the end of May/beginning of June...so mark your calenders!
Yes. I know its been a year since the last one...but I hope this will be the last for awhile...so help me le go of some older styles and a great deal to make way for new styles coming in the next few months.

The Savings.
Now through May 3rd, enjoy 20% off your total order, by entering the code:
SPRING20
And yes, this is also includes our newly on sale items!! (limited quantities of those).

Jumpin' on the FlowerBand wagon...

Flowers seem to the all the rage in the trendy world of hair accessories.
I find faux flowers at the big box stores, but I find they are scratchy and don't look as nice as I would like.

I am happy to report, after a very long search, I have finally found some beautiful silk flowers to add to the Bowtique collection.
I have also spent a little more time working on some new items for our tiniest customers-
Introducing our new FlowerBands!
Our flowerbands, flower clips and bitsybands, are perfect for pictures or as newborn gifts, especially with spring well under way.
They also look sweet in a little girl's hair too!

Now that this flower craze has begun, I have a feeling you can expect some new flower items for the summer too!
AFterall, April showers bring May flowers, right?

That is all.

New baby bands are up on the website- I will be mentioning those very soon. We are still trying to come back to reality after a glorious Spring Break vacation!
But it's high on my to-do list!

We can thank #1 for starting the whole "bow thing".

We can thank #2 for some of the serisouly cute designs.
Thanks to Ava's strange love for snails, jellyfish, and owls, the words-
"Mom, can you make me..."
helped to come up with some adorable felt fuzzies!

Happy 5th Birthday to my intense, clever and very funny Ava.
There is no other Flava.

Brows

I think there is a market for these.
Bows for the baby boy curls that Moms just can not get the courage to have cut.
I think I will call them "brows".

Shhhh...do not tell my husband I did this to my poor wee boy.
(although I think he looks awfully cute)
I will be saving this picture for his future girlfriends!
I am sure it'll be used as evidence against me one day when he is in therapy. ;)

...almost here...

There has been a slight delay in adding new items to the website.
Our house has been hit hard by all things icky the past week. (I am one of the lucky sickies too and just have not been able to muster the extra time and energy to do some website updating.

But the good news is- it looks like things are finally on the upswing!
I hope to get some items up within the next few days.

Thanks for your patience.
Thanks for the awesomeness of my Z-Pack.

Stay healthy all!

Wool Felt vs Acrylic Felt

I am often asked why I choose to use 100% wool felt. The answer is simple:
It's like comparing a wool sweater to an acrylic one.

Wool is the most durable.
It is heirloom quality.
It is tighly woven, thicker and has less fuzz than other felts.

But it is also much more expensive. (like 10x more than acrylic)

As you can see here.
100% wool on the left, 80/20 wool felt blend, acrylic on right

The fibers are most tightly woven in the wool felt and you can actually see the darker table showing through on the acrylic felt.

But there are times that I can not use 100% wool because the colors are limited and it can be a little thick for cutting super fine details...thats when a wool/rayon blend comes in handy. It still has the durability of wool, but it usually comes in more colors, is less thick and easier to find.

Acrylic felt has its place too, don't get me wrong.
This felt is great for crafting. This is what we use with the girls to create fun things.
I usually use it when I am trying new felt designs and don't want to burn through the more expensive wool felts.
Acrylic felt can be readily found at any craft store and even at your local Wal-Marts.
It's cheap (like 29 cents/sheet) and great for use on kid crafts. Some acrylic brands are even made using recycled soda bottles. (so that's good too)

But this, people, is why I prefer to stick to 100% wool for my hair accessory needs.
It's the quality, the durability and the soft, less fuzzy texture that stands the test of time.
I hope you see the difference in our wool felt items too!

Just a quick note on packages

Just want to let everyone know that my printer is out of order.
This means I have to go INTO the post office (which I really hate to do).
I am keeping the turnaround time for orders about one week because I have been going to the post office about every other day.

Since I am currently not using my postage service, automated shipping notification emails are not going out. If you want a status update or are concerned that something may have gone awry with your order, please email me and I will send the confirmation number so we can find out what is going on! All orders will continue to have delivery confirmation.

Thanks for your patience!!

Happy New Year!

Did you know that 2011 is the year of the rabbit? (which is also my pet sign for the year I was born..but we won't go there).
So in good fun, I re-designed our felt bunny clips and am pretty happy with the adorable results. (and this may be the clip that actualy gets to re-designing some of the older felt fuzzies.)

Simple. Sweet. Oh-so cute!

And to help ring in the New Year, please take 15% off your total order by using the code: NEWYEAR15 upon checkout.
This is a limited time, so enjoy it while it lasts!

Quicker turnaround times!

Yay! It's been a long while, but orders are currently being processed within a week. Yep, 7 days!

It's been a loooong while since I have been more or less caught up to my workload and been able to turn orders around within a week!

I pledge to do my best to keep the shorter wait times, especially with the impending holiday rush!

With that said, I am working on getting some new and re-newed designs up for the holidays very soon.

I am also working on adding some modified items for our Etsy shop. I am hoping to take some of our popular felt designs and turning them into felt pins and ornaments. I have a few felt ornaments for my Christmas tree and I always have someone ask me to make one for them. So I thought we'd branch out and see how they sell on Etsy...one of my favorite places to shop!

Check out my slowly growing etsy shop!
