Spring has sprung!?

Well...only sort of around here as I am watching it snow a couple inches-

after hitting 60 degrees two days ago.

Welcome to Spring in Ohio!

But rain, or shine..or snow...

Easter will be here before you know it.

So in honor of one of my favorite chocolate days,
 I thought I would list some of my all time favorite Easter designs.

I am often asked what my favorite holidays designs are.

11 years ago.

This girl.

She arrived and inspired this whole Bowtique journey 

with her "won't stay down" hair and constantly being mistaken for a boy.

It started with a few small bows in 10 different colors; 

to collections of clips, headbands, hair ties 

and whatever this growing girl (and her sister) could dream of!

This girl is single handedly responsible for some of my favorite ideas- 

like the jellyfish, the Kanzashi flower and all the new ombre sparkles.)

Despite the fact that she does indeed continue to grow, and change her style, 

she still wants something pretty to wear in her hair.

I am happy to help out, although she has taken to making her own hair accessories.

She has even helped choose new designs and colors for upcoming Spring!

She will most likely be taller than I am within the next couple years...

okay, like, next year...and she reminded me today that she will be driving in 5 years-

 but she will always be the tiny fuzzy headed inspiration for the Bowtique journey 

and my first little love.

And it has been a pleasure to watch her grow and shine bright!

(it also helps that she still stops for a hug at the bus stop)

Falling for Fall!

Are you one of those pumpkin spice-a-holics?

I am. 

 I'd like to think that I love the cooler weather, but I think I just like all the heavier fall foods.
And the pumpkin spice recipes. Yum.

We are on Vacation!

It's been a couple years, but after the very cold, very snowy, very long winter,

we decided to take the Bowtique family somewhere warm and sunny for vacation!

Unfortunately for you, this means I will not be taking any bows with me.  

Just some flip flops and a good book.

As you can see, life has once again gotten the best of me.

But it is all good.

I am teaching part time once again AND still making bows, by night!

Although I don't have the time to blog and play around on the computer like I once did, I still have my creative whims and a few minutes to indulge them.

I managed to find enough time to put together a few new fabulous items for the holidays!
These ideas have been floating around in my head for awhile, so I am excited that I managed to make them and actually add them to the website!
(especially now that the holiday season is just around the corner- or already knocking at the door if you have been out shopping lately)

Still here! But where is Spring?

March came in like a lion here.

So much on our plate here at TheBowtique house.

I started a long term teaching sub position until the end of May.

After being home for over 9 years,

I am learning to adjust our new schedules.

Most of the family was wiped out with a vicious stomach bug for a few days.

I can not remember the last time I was sick.

And with Mr Bowtique sick at the same time,

we were a sad lot here.

We also had a death in the family which adjusted our days for awhile too.

It was not a sudden passing, but sad all the same.

So at last we arrive to the last week of March.
We are still standing,
(apparently in the snow as there is no sign of sunny spring weather)
and I am happy to announce that I am finally catching up
to all things Bowtique related.

The turnaround times will be shortening very soon
(but I will keep the 4-7 days turnaround time for now to be safe).
And I hope to get all the new spring items up at the end of this week.

I also hope that the old saying is true-
If March comes in like a lion,
then it better go out like a lamb!!

9 years.

I can not believe another year has gone by.

I tucked my 8 year old daughter into bed tonight, but

when she wakes, she will wake up a 9 year old!

I am finding the birthdays a little harder this year.

Especially since I now have to ask her to bend down a bit

when I help braid her hair.

It seems that she will be taller than I am much, much too soon.

But despite her height,

she is and always will be

the teeny tiny crazy haired baby I first took home.

And it was from all that crazy, fluffy hair that I

took on a bow challenge.

And it was from that bow challenge, that I continues to try to ideas.

And it was from those ideas that The Bowtique

is what it is today.

All because of this tiny girl

and her crazy whispy hair.

What I do in my "spare time".

Firstly, haha.

Spare time is such a loose term to use. 

But when I have some, I find I am still putting time in to my bow obsession.

When I get the opportunity to do something local, I am all over it.

I love the town I live and I love to support local businesses!
